Frequently asked questions
You want to know what to expect. That’s why we’re happy to answer your questions and put any concerns at ease. Below, you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t listed, just get in touch.
After we’ve designed the interior of your camper van, we’ll start building the camper van. You can supply it yourself, or we can order a new one for you from the dealer.
Once the camper van arrives, we’ll get to work on creating your dream camper van. Building a modular camper van takes an average of six months. The duration depends on how busy it is at that time and the potential delivery time for your new camper van.
A Module-VAN always has 2 approved seats for driving. It is possible to upgrade this number to 4 if desired. In this case, a belt frame with approved seat belts must be installed. A fifth seat can be created with a bench seat in the front (three seats in the cab), but this will render the cabin seats non-rotatable.
When it comes to pricing, we have no secrets. Each module has its own price.
The price of a modular camper van depends on the modules you choose and any additional options (such as an awning and solar panels). VAN-Jorn can build a complete interior, starting at €30,000. Building a camper van, including the new Peugeot Boxer van, costs approximately €75,000.
We can install the following vans:
Height 1 (2.25 m) or 2 (2.52 m); length 2 (5.40 m), 3 (5.99 m) or 4 (6.40 m).
Height 2; length 3
According to the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration’s regulations, a campervan must be at least 170 cm high. This isn’t a problem for campervans with a height of 2 cm. If you choose a campervan with a height of 1 cm, you’ll need to increase the interior space. The roof must then be fitted with a pop-up or fixed roof. This increases the interior space to at least 170 cm, with a length of at least 100 cm and a width of at least 90 cm.
If you want to sleep four people, a pop-up roof will probably be necessary. This creates a double bed on the campervan’s roof.
Is your camper van not allowed to be parked in front of your door, or would you prefer not to? Then you can go to a camper van storage facility. Our partner NKC works with 1Stalling. Here you can easily see all available storage spaces in your area.
VAN-Jorn interiors are built with lightweight materials. A two-person campervan based on a Peugeot Boxer typically weighs between 2550 and 2750 kg. A Mercedes Sprinter campervan weighs between 2800 and 3100 kg.
An electric Peugeot Boxer with an interior weighs between 3150 and 3350 kg.
This only applies for camper vans registered in the Netherlands! For a camper van, the motor vehicle tax for a period of 3 months is a quarter of the tax you have to pay for a passenger car. However, in order to qualify for this rate, it is necessary that the full RDW inspection from bus to camper van is completed, including BPM calculation, BPM declaration, BPM payment and issuance of a registration certificate with a new license plate. Only then can you submit a written request to the Tax and Customs Administration to be allowed to use the special rate.
Factory-built campers are the standard in the camper world. They’re made for “most people” and are often fully equipped. This means they often have a fully furnished interior and are quite expensive. Prices for a used factory-built camper are often still quite high. You’ll then end up with a camper with a used interior, which often shows signs of wear and tear and doesn’t have the modern look you might be looking for.
At VAN-Jorn, you can design your own unique interior, fully tailored to your wishes. This gives you a say in the new and super-stylish interior. The interior is permanently flexible and ensures the dream camper that suits you in every stage of life. Moreover, you can choose the basic camper. Basic or super-luxurious, new or used. And you can opt for durable materials that stay beautiful for a long time.
When purchasing a new vehicle, you as a private individual in the Netherlands, are subject to an additional tax, called BPM. This amount is not paid for a business vehicle. Are you buying a used van from a company and turning it into a camper? Then the vehicle becomes a private vehicle (with a yellow license plate) and you are liable for BPM. Fortunately, not the full amount: this amount decreases over a period of 20 years, with the largest percentage being reduced in the first 5 years. Only when the BPM declaration (and payment) has been made will a new license plate be issued and you can hit the road with your new camper.
We are happy to take care of everything for you, including the purchase of a new Peugeot Boxer van. If you already have a suitable van or would like to arrange this yourself, we are also happy to convert it for you.
